Rising above downtown San Francisco, Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero occupies the top 11 floors of a 48-story landmark, offering unparalleled views of the city and the bay from one of the most sought-after addresses in the country. Steps from Union Square, the Ferry Building, Fisherman's Wharf, and Chinatown, it's a property that puts guests at the center of everything while keeping them above it all. In partnership with a trusted neighborhood yoga studio, the hotel brings complimentary Sky Flow Yoga to its 40th-floor terrace, complete with sweeping skyline views. We spoke with the team about what makes this property distinct, and what intentional wellness looks like at the top of one of San Francisco's most iconic buildings.

What makes Four Seasons Embarcadero a distinct experience, both within the portfolio and within San Francisco?

The Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero stands out in both the Four Seasons portfolio and the city itself due to a combination of architectural prominence, design rooted in local identity, and elevated guest offerings.

How does the hotel create opportunities for stillness and presence amidst the fast pace of city life?

Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero intentionally blends its sky-high perch on the 40th-floor terrace, overlooking the city, with wellness-driven programming and serene design to offer restorative calm above the city's pace.

What kind of feeling or shift do you hope guests carry with them after their stay?

We hope guests leave with a deep exhale—a sense of grounding and renewed clarity that stays with them long after they’ve stepped back into the rhythm of daily life. At Four Seasons Hotel Embarcadero, the goal isn’t just to offer rest, but to create a subtle yet meaningful shift and unforgettable memories.

What inspired the decision to make yoga part of the wellness offering, and how does it complement the overall guest experience?

The decision to integrate yoga into the hotel’s wellness programming grew from an insight of understanding that our guests are seeking not just rest, but reconnection. In a city known for its pace, innovation, and stimulation, yoga offers a grounding counterbalance—one that aligns perfectly with the serenity of our elevated setting that overlooks the city.

Can you share more about the collaboration with Nob Hill Yoga?

Twice weekly, guests enjoy complimentary 60-minute Vinyasa-style yoga sessions on the 40th-floor terrace, offering sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, Transamerica Pyramid, and San Francisco skyline. These sessions are delivered in collaboration with Nob Hill Yoga, a respected local studio. Nob Hill Yoga curates the class structure—combining dynamic asanas, mindful breathwork, and fluid transitions—to create a grounding, restorative experience perfectly aligned with the hotel's elevated, tranquil ambiance.

Why Manduka?

When the hotel introduced our Mindful Movement Collection, we wanted every element to feel as elevated as the rest of the Four Seasons experience. Manduka is widely recognized for producing some of the highest quality yoga mats in the industry, and their products are used by leading instructors and studios around the world. Including Manduka's PRO 6mm yoga mats in our in-room wellness program ensured that guests would have access to premium, studio-grade equipment that supports balance, stability, and comfort. Our goal was to make wellness feel effortless and approachable while traveling, and deeply personal. Many of our guests practice yoga at home or while traveling, so bringing in a trusted brand like Manduka created an immediate sense of familiarity and trust.

Paired with our collaboration with Nob Hill Yoga and our twice-weekly yoga classes, Manduka's mats help bridge the in-room and group wellness experiences, creating a seam-less narrative for guests who want to move, breathe, and reset during their stay.
